Best amp I ever owned. Extremely heavy with the JBL’s, but indestructible. Installed mods as listed (w/ D110F JBL’s/Master Volume mod/Direct Line Out Mod/Custom Overdrive Mod), Master Volume, Line Out for recording and PA, and reverse bias Diodes in preamp for built in overdrive/fuzz sound. Played all over Texas and Oklahoma for over 20 years until it suffered an untimely death in 1984 in a house fire. As others have said, if the room’s too big, mike it. I’ve owned Showmans, various Carvins, Ampegs, Peavys and even hybrids, but always relied on the varied sounds of the Super for the real work. I miss her dearly.

She’ll get heavy and she’ll get bright and everything in-between.

Built like a tank, aren’t all Fenders; however, the JBL’s destroyed the original 1/2 plywood. Replaced it with 3/4 birch and all was well.

I’ll make this short and sweet. This is the amp that I judge all others by.

The Super Reverb in my opinion is the greatest workhorse amp in the world. If you enjoy playing blues, rockabilly, surf, swing or even jazz, this amp can deliver. Twins are great, but too loud and clean. Bassmans are great, but no reverb and vibrato, and Deluxes tend to be on the bright side for me. A Super is easy to use and figure out. Different size rooms and styles require different settings. For instance I would never use the bright switch unless I was playing a Duane Eddy type number, using the low strings only. Bend an E string with the bright switch on and watch the club clear out.

My Super starts to break up around 5 which is a great tone itself, perfect for blues. I carry a tube screamer with me only for those occasions where it’s cocktail volume all the way and I want overdrive without upsetting the club owner.

All in all a Super in my opinion is a great amp, get one now before the prices really go through the roof!

I have dragged this amp around the country. I have never even changed a tube. Don’t need no effects. Easy load in — 1 trip in — 1 trip out. If you want to play blues or really cool rock, this is the one for you. Not very powerful but perfect for small clubs, you want more, mic it.

If you like old blues or rock with 4 10’s it is crisp, yet with low power you can turn it up at the club and get that natural drive. Play a Mustang or Musicmaster through it, BIG SOUND.
