  6. A great sounding tube amp. Mine has the 5881 tubes inside. Its many features give unlimited amounts of tone combinations. It has a hi/lo switch allowing you to go from 50 watts to 100 for all you apartment dwellers. The reverb is warm and nice.

  9. You have to really pull that gain down to get a decent clean sound but it’s usually worth it. I play a Gibson Sone with super distortion humbuckers and a Strat with humbuckers and always find a nice clean sound with both. The distortion will knock you out of your practice room. Millions of combinations. Just tweak the knobs, my good man.

  5. This one came with Sovtek tubes. I’m just a beginner and this is my first tube amp. The controls are pretty basic and strait forward — it’s LOUD! I have it hooked up to a Fender cab that’s rated at 300 watts.

  8. I have a Fender Strat with stacked buckers in it, the amp has exceptionally clean tones and more crunch than any solid state I’ve heard. I haven’t run any effects thru it yet.

  11. No problems yet it’s in really great shape for being five years old.

  4. This is the Marshall I have always wanted. I got it for my birthday in March of ’99. It has an “extra” preamp tube for added distortion. The Gain knob goes from 1 to 10, and the Sensitivity knob, (which is right next to the Gain knob) goes from 11 to 20. This allows you to really tweak the amount of crunch you want. There are 100’s of different distortions inside this baby. My favorite feature as got to be the "high-low" switch on the back. You can go from 50 watts to 100 watts at will.

  7. The amps never plays totally clean. That’s just fine with me, because it’s my Rock and Blues amp anyway. You can also overdrive it to much if your not careful. I just remember that the more volume I use, the less Gain and Sensitivity I need. I use a Carvin 2X12 closed back Legacy cabinet (50 watts) with my SLX head. The tone is as smooth as cream. I believe the reissue Greenbacks from Celestion are the only way to fly!

  10. This amp speaks for itself; MARSHALL. I has the “fail-safe” fuse system, which means I keep on rock’n even if I blow a fuse. I have had not one problem, and I’ve owned it a little more than a year. I put total faith in this amp. When I’m not playing live, I can sit at home, turn the volume to 1, and use it for a great practice amp (the distortion at low volume are very cool to say the least.) It’s too bad that not enough people could figure this amp out, so Marshall discontinued this model. That’s fine with me though, because I finally got one.
