  6. This amp does not deliver what was promised. This replaced my Fender Twin and I’ve regretted it ever since. The Amp is easy to use. Very heavy 60kg with road Case (Last thing you want to carry after 4 hours of playing.)

  9. Tone of this amp is very poor. Possibly this amp could be a lemon. Guitars used are Fender Teles and 56 Gold Top. The Sound itself reminds me of a transistor or cheap style amp with transistor distortion. I now play a $200 Sovtek Mig 50h amp and it’s hard to take, as it sounds better than the TremoVerb that cost over $3000.

  6. t is hard to go from JCM-900’s to anything else, even a Boogie. With that said, I bought this amp because everybody else said it could do so much. After screwing with the knobs for a while, I found the amp sounds much better than it did in the store and comes very close to the rich distortion tones of the Marshall. The reason the Marshall JCM’s are so great is that they don’t color the tone much, they simply transmit the guitar’s tone to the speakers which results in a natural “musical sound.” The Boogie’s tend to color the tones somewhat and invariably your guitar sounds like “And Justice for All” no matter how the amp is set.

  9. This amp is a little too fuzzy for my taste but it makes up for that with the most interesting bass response of any amp I have ever heard. I think that comes from the birch cabinet construction. Anyway, I am happy with this amp and think it will be an effective replacement for my old JCM-900 halfstacks. The thing is covered in leather for Pete’s sake.

  12. This amp seems awfully sturdy seeing as how it weighs as much as an anvil.

  6. Product stands up well. Easy to plug in and start playing. Takes a little time to get the amp to sound optimal.

  9. This amp has many different voicings. That said, they aren’t all good unless you really know how to tweak the presence, treble, etc... to get your tone. Takes a little getting used to, but it sounds very nice once you find it. Don’t send any of your levels on EQ or presence above 7. Very quiet when muffling the strings. For awesome clean channel, set gain low and master up.

  6. Pretty straight forward. The effects, mix send & returns took a while to get used to. Tons of options on the back panel to route sound tons of ways. Even channel cloning which is a bit esoteric for me. That’s what you’re paying for... all the options.

  9. THE most awesome crunch tone ever. Full of midrange & bottom end and natural compression that sings and sings. Clean channel SUCKS. This is not an amp for those who demand total clean. The trebels are harsh and EQ doesn’t do a thing but make it worse. If you can tolerate it go ahead but there are no amps out there that have this kind of crunch and have cool clean tone... If you find one let me know. The closest I could find is the Single Rectoverb which is a 50 watt scaled down model that has awesome clean and very decent crunch... close to the TOV but not as much bottom end. Reverb settings on TOV are sensitive... you only need a little. Tremolo is cool but not the reason to buy this amp. I used this to do recording on and won’t go back to my old method of getting distortion (Boss pedals). Don’t get this amp if you are just playing in your bedroom. This is meant for band practice or live gigs. It is way too loud and actually it is not good at being quiet.

  12. Mesa gear is very reliable & sturdy. Just really heavy in the lbs. dept. Not to good for grrrl guitar players who don’t like to lift heavy things. Black vinyl dents easy. Oh well. Nothing stays new forever.

  6. Oh man does this amplifier scream and sing. It is simple by nature and intense in tone. I do not know why I played Marshall amps so long. This amplifier is the best out there in my opinion.

  7. Performance Rating: 10

  9. It just radiates. The clean channel sparkles and the dirty screams. Plus you can channel clone and switch between 4 different voicings. Throw reverb and tremolo into the picture and you have all the tone in a single amp you could ask for. Plus it is really quiet when I am not playing.

  10. Sound Quality Rating: 10

  12. Made with solid wood and covered in leather. What happened to marshalls that they became so cheap. The tube sockets are porcelain!
