The Powerland 25 is a nice little amp from the late 70s / early 80s and has that real vintage look. It offers two channel (each has a separate brightness switch), 3-way eq (works for both channels), reverb and master volume. A footswitch can be connected for ch1-ch2. The knobs are big and mounted on an orange surface. Grillcloth is orange-black, amp has black elephant skin all over and a 12“ speaker with easy access plug. It is a nice practice amp for low money.

Surprisingly good sound. It’s solid state and sounds real cheesy when cranked up, but it has a nice crunch and a very warm clean channel. Quite a good thing for my Jazz guitar because it reproduces clean tones very well and neutral, though not very loud (it’s loud enough for any apartment or party, but not for large clubs). The “uncolored” clean channel has its downs when cranked up or when switched to drive. There isn’t a lot of character to be expected. You get nice warm rhythm tone and sort of a “Texas Flood” style crunch, but the more gain you add, the more cheese you get. If you don’t look for a solo weapon but for a practice, recording or backup amp, it’s quite a deal. It has a very, very fine clean sound! I would rate it higher, but then the 5 is reserved for Fender Showmasters or Polytones, so a 3 is good for an amp that small and cheap.

One very nice feature is the fact that it has a jack between amp and speaker. You can use the speaker with another amp and get a “nosy” or “squeaking” tone out of your gear or run the amp through a better speaker and add more warmth to the tone. This may sound strange when you think of the price, but I run the amp through the speakers of my Fender Deville and get a very nice, warm Jazz tone out of it. On the other hand I already connected a Marshall Valvestate amp to the speaker to get a “cheap” tone for home recording. The amp is quite sturdy and never let me down so far. I have owned it for five years and use it for practice and home recording. You really get some weird sounds out of those old boxes.
