I am a person who does a lot of research when it comes to music equipment. I spend my hard earned cash wisely when it comes to music purchases. So take this review as being done in complete honesty. I have been looking at buying a new tube amp for over a year. I was using a Carvin SX200 solid state until I could find a tube sound I liked. I tried Crate and Carvin tube amps but didn't get the sound I wanted. I had read that the new Traynor amps were getting rave reviews. Therefore I went to a music store and played the Traynor YCV40T. This thing was fantastic. It's 40 watts of tube power but it is very loud. This amp is very easy to play, and it does exactly what it says it will in the reviews. If nothing else go play one I think you'll agree.

The clean channel is very crisp and clear and the distorted channel has a very nice harmonic ring. Also it maintains good sound when it's turned up on the either channel thanks to the two red Celestion 10 inch speakers. I play both a Carvin TL60 and a Bolt-T and they both sound very nice through this amp. Usually one guitar or the other will sound different through different amps. These two have different sounds but they both have the same harmonic tones. By the way I played the YCV20 amp also and it sounded very nice.

It was Guitar Magazine 2001 pick of the year and I can see why now that I own one.
