  5. It’s awesome man. We play Incubus-y kind of music if you will. I give this thing a 10. It’s sweet.

  5. It took me a while to find the sound I wanted. Manual (sets center of frequency sweep) Depth (how far it sweeps) Speed (how fast it sweeps) and Res (oh I don’t know, intensity of sweeping sound). There are a wide variety of sounds available from this thing if you mess around with it.

  8. Excellent. Great lush Cure type sounds. The Cure used this thing a lot, particularly on “A Forest” (they probably used the early Japanese model, which is supposed to be slightly better than the current Korean made model, but who knows?) Also can be heard at the intro to “Love” by Smashing Pumpkins. You can get all sorts of tasteful swirly sounds, chorus sounds, jet plane sounds (like in “Love”), warbly sounds, etc. Also you can get piercing steel drum-like sounds with the Res cranked. With a really slow sweep on the widest depth possible, the sweep gets really intense and weird at the bottom end. Anyway, it’s a great flanger. My favorite flanger is probably the Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress, but this comes close. I traded the Boss one in for a used Mistress, but I missed the Boss, so I’m getting one used off of Ebay. The early Japanese model, incedentally. Flangers are my favorite effects, and these two are my favorite kinds of flangers.

  5. This was the second pedal I got, after a wah-wah, and I love it. I used it at gigs and I’m pretty sure it helped me sound pretty good. Pretty versatile (four knobs) easy to use. Yeah, it’s cool.

  8. Sounds great. Goes from subtle Flange to big whooshing aeroplane noises.

  11. The pedal was second hand when I got it, but works fine. Boss pedals can really take a lot of punishment. Very well made.

  5. Great pedal. My lead guitarist uses one, and I’ve only used it a couple times, but I already know it’s a good pedal. Simple controls. My only problem is its overall pinkness.

  8. Adds a lot of treble and sounds great if you have a rhythm guitar with heavy distortion. Adds a certain ska-like tone to it. Use ska upstrokes to add to this effect.

  11. Probably the most durable and long-lasting pedal I’ve ever used. It is amazing. Our band has used it since the beginning and it’s still looking and sounding like new.

  4. Do you feel your masculine distortion pedal is getting lonely down there? How about something feminine looking and sounding. It adds a great flanging sound to your clean and distortion sounds. It is also pink. Don’t get bored with the same sounds, broaden your horizons.

  7. Sound is great. Boss gives you settings for the controls and all you have to do is take the one you like and tweek it to your favorite setting. The range of this pedal is incredible.

  8. Sound Quality Rating: 10

  9. Construction

  10. It is Boss, so it is made solid, unlike DOD pedals which are made of plastic like a child’s toy. Throw it and other brand named pedals against a wall and look at the results. I am also tired of those battery whiners. Buy the AC adapter, save money, and buy a surge protector. Get some tissues to wipe your faces with or are you going into the feminine side of your music.
