  6. The RP12 delivers as promised. The possibilities are endless. It is a bit intimidating. It takes some time to get the best out of the unit. If you perform live, be prepared to spend an evening dialing in patches, and a rehearsal getting the volume levels consistent from patch to patch before you use it live. If you like tinkering around to get the tone you want, you will love this box.

  8. Sound Quality

  9. I have been performing the club circuit for almost 20 years. The clean sounds are truly amazing. Distortions are average, but with some eq tweaking and compression you can get some passable tones. The compressor is a bit noisy, but the noise gate can hide it pretty good. Harmony, Stereo panning, Stereo Delay & Chorus are great. EQ is tricky to master but can do the job quite nicely. The Wah sucks. Cabinet emulation is good enough to run direct in a live setting. You can get just about any sound you want from this unit if you are willing to take the time to dial it in. Using two 80s era Marshall amps with the unit running stereo effects. I get compliments on my tone at every gig. It does not compare with the $500 dollar amp modelers of today, but on the used market, it is A LOT OF EFFECTS FOR THE MONEY.

  11. Construction

  12. Built sturdy enough to stand the rigors of the road as long as you do not abuse it. I purchased this unit so I could retire my 11 year old Digitech RP-10. Digitech sells replacement switches and hardware on their site. If you are able to use a solder iron and solder, you can keep these things going for years and years on the club circuit.

  6. I love it, I play my modified Strat (Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Pickups) against a Behringer amp and the RP12.

  9. Great sound and tone. Very impressive.

  11. Construction

  12. Great feel, but is now wearing out and buttons are becoming a bit unresponsive. I will be sending it back to Digitech for repair. Not bad for such an old piece of equipment.

  6. The RP12 is made of cheese and copper wiring, I tried to eat it but it was too hard. I am now using it as a doorstop and paperweight. I sometimes use it as a guitar effects processor in which instance it gives good dist. and delay. The only thing I was dis-enchanted with was the algorithm system. I would prefer it to have unlimited effect combinations as this would make it easier to make my own custom effects loop. Overall a good unit for metal.

  8. Sound Quality

  9. The distortion is very good as are the delays and reverbs. I found when I made a custom synth sound I ended up with a lot of background noise. Switching also is delayed and creates a bump in the flow of the music.

  12. Metal case... Enough said.

  6. The Digitech RP12 is a pretty good alternative for players who want to make any sound under the sun yet only buy one pedal. It’s easy to use and it does everything it promised.

  7. Performance Rating: 8

  8. Sound Quality

  9. The overall sound Quality of the RP12 is good. All of the clean effects will blow you away. However, if you are a player who likes great tone in the distortion effects, then this pedal is not for you. All of the distortion sounds like static.

  10. Sound Quality Rating: 6

  11. Construction

  12. The construction is exellent. It is very reliable. The only problem I had was this: one of the buttons came off. Of course this was only because I accidentally kicked it, so it’s pretty well made otherwise.
