  6. I’ve owned this unit since Feb. 2000 it has performed flawlessly. Any sound you want. I’ve owned and still own many effect boxes, pedalboards, and units. I will not use anything else.

  9. No need for your hush noise reduction. Tuner dead on. GNX, please, not for me. Clean to dirty and everything in between. It is in the tubes.

  10. Sound Quality Rating: 10

  12. Strong steel housing. Only complaint the footswitches wear out after 4-5 years of use. No need to stomp here. Learn to tap lightly.

  6. I’ve only had the unit one week, but in this week I’ve probably put 30 hours of playing and several more setting it up with my other equipment. I feel pretty confident that I can give an accurate review. The hook up was easy, and I followed their suggestion of connecting the output to the receive jack on the effects loop of my Marshall. Keeps the noise down, which was the first thing I noticed. As far as ease of use, it’s really quite simple. Press the patch you want to use and from there press the individual effects within the patch on or off. My only big beef with the unit is the lack of a power switch. It could be there, but I can’t find it. A plus with the power though is the lack of a wall wart. They have about a 3ft section of normal cord after the wart to plug it in. The side that connects to the unit is about 6ft.

  9. I have owned many effect/preamp units and this one by far is the best. The tube distortion is good, could be a little heavier, but still good. The solid state distortions aren’t so hot, but who cares... as long as the tube distortion sounds good, who needs it. The effects are really good and clean sounding. They don’t seem to have that digital harshness that other units have. One thing I really like is the ability to assign the pedal to different parameters of a certain patch or to morph between different effects in a patch.

  12. Construction is good. The case is metal and much bigger than the photos make it to be. The only negative here is that when I first picked the unit up, I could hear a screw inside the unit sliding around. One of these days I’ll take it apart and try to find out where it belongs.

  13. Construction Rating: 6
