This pedal is a much debated pedal. A lot of greats (Stevie Ray Vaughan etc.) have used it. Anyway the reason some people hate it is because they are after a distortion pedal, with lots of gain. This is not the pedal for that. HOWEVER it is an excellent overdrive/clean lead boost. It doesn’t alter your basic tone but adds smooth overdrive and more grit to your sound. When I first tried one of these I was looking for huge metal distortion. I thought it was crap. Of course, this pedal isn’t a metal pedal. I have one now that I am finding to be a valuable tool. This is because I now know what to use it for. I hate Boss distortion pedals by the way (except maybe the DS-1). This pedal has way nicer tone.

Like I said, this pedal should give you a nice lead sound with sustain but it is not a high gain pedal. For high gain I have a RAT pedal. I love that pedal, and recommend it for people looking for that sort of pedal. This pedal is also very quiet. I’m not a retro old dude, I am a young guitar player, but this pedal is great sounding, good tone. If you listen to old records, Santana especially, his lead tone is smooth and great-sounding but not much gain. That’s pretty much what this pedal does. As always, try before you buy, because If you are looking to cop a Korn/Bizkit huge growling low high gain sound, this is not your pedal. But if you know how to use it, it sounds and works great.

It’s second hand and in great condition. All of my guitar gear is second hand, pre-loved. Why buy stuff new when you can find gems for half the price in good condition.
