Performance
Three chicken head knobs for level, gain and tone. Very easy to dial in clean boost or a nice bluesy overdrive. Do not purchase this if you are looking for a metal pedal. This is not what it was designed to do. This beautiful tank of a pedal excells at lower grind overdrive. It has fast become one of my favorite pedals.

Sound Quality
The tone of this gem ( with single coils )is a bit on the treble side. I play Strats & Teles, so the inherent sound is a bit more thin than a humbucker equipped guitar. I imagine it would be a bit more round with a dual coil pick-up. That said, I just back off the tone control, up the level, set the gain between 11:00 and 3:00 and let ‘er rip. With the Tele, it goes from Roy Buchanon type squeals to Page’s heartbreaker riff’s in a matter of seconds. Again, this pedal is not going to put you in Metallica country... but if you desire an exceptional sounding blues tone, ( think cranked Deluxe or Champ ) then this pedal is for you.

This thing is built! It looks very nice with its chrome body and black knobs. Very classy like the Vox Wah. I keep it in the original box when not in use, so it looks like new. I did however drop it yesterday! Ouch! It just put a little scrape on its side. No dents. Plugged it in and it never missed a beat. I suspect it will be here long after I’m gone. Of course, I’m 94 years old so that isn’t saying much! Well, I FEEL 94 today. All in all, a great low gain overdrive/clean boost. More in the Tube Screamer range of tone colors, but I like it much better than the Tube Screamer as you can have a bit of your own identity and not sound like the SRV clones, not that there is anything wrong with that, but we all need to find our own voice, and this pedal helps me find mine. If you find one, I recommend you buy it.
