Recording Through The IK Multimedia X-Gear Plugin In Digital Performer
Here a method for using the IK Multimedia X-Gear plugin with Digital Performer 6 that allows you to record the guitar signal unaltered on one track and processed by the X-Gear plugin on another track.
Tracks Window
On the first track, make sure you have the input set to your guitar signal and the output set to your monitors. I have named this track "Clean Input ". This track will record the straight, unaltered guitar signal. On the second track set the input for "bus 1". Create this input if you need to. Set the output of the second track to your monitors. I named this track "X-Gear Plugin". Record enable both of the tracks.
Mixer Window
In the first track (Clean Input), insert X-Gear as an insert effect. Setup X-Gear any way you like. Now in the audio send section, below the insert effects section, send the signal to bus 1. This will send the X-Gear processed signal to the second track where it will be recorded. Adjust the send signal as neded.
Record and Play
Now hit record and play. You should end up with unprocessed audio on track one and processed audio on track two, as seen below in the Sequencer window.
