  6. Absolutely awesome!! I’ve got an 81 in the bridge of my Les Paul along with an EMG 60 in the neck. This combo is awesome. No problems at all and the 81 sounds great. Every guitar that get from now on will have either a 60/81 combo or two 81’s in it.

  9. The 81 is just great. Lots of long sustain and the solos just sound terrific. Word to the wise though, this pickup pick up everything so it will definitely help improve your technique.

  12. This product is very solid and has stood up to all my abuse. I don’t think they are going anywhere for a long time and plus, they look cool.

  6. A little bit confusing at first, but once I took everything apart and laid the guts of my guitar out on the table they were pretty easy to install by following the well written instructions.

  9. These are the ultimate overdrive pickups. It brings my Jackson JK-20, which I recently reviewed at performance-5, sound-4, construction-4, up to straight 5’s. The harmonics are really incredible through a decent amp (Marshall!!) they sound a lot like Zakk Wylde (he uses the 81 and 85 as well). Also great for Metallica stuff, and any sort of metal lead you can think of. Clean sound is pretty basic, and I could probably get more out of them if I wired in a tone control, but that would mean routing the Jackson and I really don’t feel like it right now.

  12. Rock solid. These things are well made, fairly easy to install, and have an extremely low noise level when you plug in. Of course there is a lot to say about a good installation. Make sure all the ground wires are well connected! I had a little problem with the clean channel for a while, but it was my fault because I had missed a clearly marked ground connection when I wired it up.

  9. OK, check this out now. I’m the same person who wrote bout the EMG 60 by the way. OK, I have a Line 6 amp and a Boss ME30. Metallica fans listen. You guys know how Dyer’s eve is so heavy without mids at all! I cranked my amp up around 7 or 8 which is real loud, because at 4 on my L6 is window shattering. I swear guys! I left the guitar alone, NO AMP NOISE AT ALL AS WITH MY IBANEZ OR SEYMOURS THEY MAKE A LOAD OF NOISE Pressed down on my F5 chord. D---2 A---2 E---0 and BOOM! JUST GIVES A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF DISTORTION. It was crazy!!!! And it’s all so clear even when I’m playing justice for all. Bass- 8 Mid - 0 Treb - 9 Presence on. It just gives allllll metal sound with no noisy background or anything, if you play Metallica no matter how much equipment you have, it’s not gonna be Metallica with out this pickup. Also the EMG 60 for the clean harmonics.
