Dotted Notes
A dot adds half the value of the note it follows to the note. A dotted half note get 3 beats: 2 beats for the half note plus 1 beat (half the value of a half note) for the dot. A dotted quarter note gets 1 1/2 beats: 1 beat for the quarter note plus 1/2 beat (half the value of a quarter note) for the dot.
The next song contains a number of dotted half notes. Be sure to count them for a full 3 beats (2 beats + 1 beat.)
