Fifth String Notes

Let’s move on to the 5th string and learn three new notes.

Fifth String Notes

The A is played by picking the open 5th string. The B is played with the 2nd finger at the 2nd fret. The C is played with the 3rd finger at the 3rd fret. Notice the short lines, called “ledger lines”, that have been added to the notes to extend the staff.

Here’s a tune that will give your 5th string a workout.
