Al Di Meola
As a child I was influenced by the Jazz, R&B, and various styles and forms. I remember an album [Elegant Gypsy] when I was seven that pictured a dancing flamenco woman and a full bearded Italian virtuoso named Al Di Meola. The sounds were amazing and still a marvel today. Since then I got lost in other forms of music, living in Miami, but was re-invigorated in 2006 when Al Di (as I call him) released the phenomenal Consequence of Chaos
. I was even more delighted to find out the Al would frequent my favorite Italian bistro in Coral Gables, Via Condrono (canolies, pastries, and dishes.) I still wonder if his favorite is the Veal dish.

- Al Di Meola

Maybe it was a concert, or a CD (or an LP for us older players), or a song on the radio. There is usually one defining moment when we hear a player for the first time and they become our hero.
Here is your chance to tell the story of how a particular player became your hero. If you have an interesting story to tell, simply email me the story. Be sure to include the name of your hero and your name.
