Joe Satriani
My personal Guitar hero is Joe Satriani. About eight months ago, I was looking around at a CD/game exchange place, and a CD caught my eye. It was Strange Beautiful Music by Joe Satriani, who I had never really heard of before. It was five bucks and I had been looking for some good instrumental guitar stuff so I bought it. The second track, belly dancer, grabbed my attention and made me listen more closely to the rest of the CD. It was deceptively simple music for the most part, In other words way harder than it sounded. I started looking around and now have five of his albums. A few months later I found a really good guitar that was insanely cheap. I bought it and can now play the melodies to a lot of his songs. I can't do the solos or two handed tapping but Rome wasn't built in a day and a master guitarist is not made in five months.

Maybe it was a concert, or a CD (or an LP for us older players), or a song on the radio. There is usually one defining moment when we hear a player for the first time and they become our hero.
Here is your chance to tell the story of how a particular player became your hero. If you have an interesting story to tell, simply email me the story. Be sure to include the name of your hero and your name.
